IMPORTANT MORGAN ANNOUNCEMENTS
SUMMER, 2016

Camp Morgan and 8th Grade Academy registrations can be mailed in throughout the summer.

Wildcats Worldwide is a cultural immersion youth summer camp. Over three weeks in August twelve local students, ages 12-15, will be selected to have the opportunity to discover the fun of being on a college campus as they participate in engaging activities with twelve international students from Korea. Wildcats Worldwide empowers youth to learn about their world, cultivate leadership and civic engagement, build lifelong friendships across cultures, and promote the skills and motivation to make a difference in society. Registration forms and information are available here:
http://www.cwu.edu/ce/wildcats-worldwide.

8th graders who have met with Mr. Hails or Ms. Foy regarding the College Bound scholarship, you have until June 30th to take advantage of this awesome opportunity. Please do not let this pass you by as it will help you get a great jump off on your path to college. If you need another application, please stop by the office.

FALL SPORTS

The following are the start dates for MMS sports. Due to another late Labor Day, we must start prior to school to ensure our minimum practice requirement is met before our first contests.

Football: 8/22/16 (12 practice requirement)
Cross Country, Volleyball, Soccer, Softball: 8/29/16 (8 Practice Requirement)

Jill will be back in the office on 8/18 to begin issuing orange slips for the 6/7 campus.
Laurie will also be back on 8/18 for registrar and orange slips for the 8th annex.

We will compete 1 more year as the MMS Tigers, before moving to the MMS Bulldogs (Navy/white) in the 2017-2018 school year. A large portion of the new uniform rotation is being purchased this summer.

2016-2017 Late Starts

The Ellensburg School Board has joined most other districts in the State and is moving to a late start model during the 2016-2017 school year.  Effective in September, school will start one-hour late every Monday to allow teachers to collaborate and work to improve student learning while meeting the Common Core State Standards.  Here are some links to provide background information:

(509) 381-2179
Eighth Grade Campus: (509) 381-2178

Bullying of any kind is wrong – physical, verbal, online or off, before, during or after school – it is never acceptable.  To help in our prevention efforts, Ellensburg High School is implementing the SchoolReach® CyberBully HotlineTM. The purpose of this program is to create an anonymous, two-way means for students, parents, guardians and others to report incidents of bullying, harassment, intimidation and information on potential harmful or violent acts by others.
