School is canceled on Monday, June 1st.
We are having a Wear Blue day on Tuesday, June 2, in recognition of the world’s water crisis. Tickets for prizes will be given out at the PLC Tuesday morning assembly. Think Blue, Wear BLUE!
Attention sixth grade students: If you want to be a TA (Teacher Assistant, that is) for any teacher in our building, you need to speak with that teacher. If you’re both in agreement, have the teacher write a quick note with your name and theirs (and get your parent’s signature). Then bring the note to Ms. Hammond or Mr. Hails. We will do our best to make it happen for you. Thank you, your friendly
Our guest speaker during last Tuesday’s PLC told you about Youth Services Mentors and how to get one for the year. What a fun relationship to build! Yellow application packets are available with Mrs. Pennington at the office window. Get involved!
Time is running out to get an application to be an Office Aide next year! 6th graders can pick up an application in the front office. They must be turned in by Wednesday – don’t delay!
Those students participating in the afterschool backpack program can pick up their bags in the office after school – don’t forget!
Book Fair is ending! It's ‘Buy One - Get One Free!’ Buy a book and get a second one free! Don’t miss out on the drawing for that delicious, catered lunch, cooked up by the fabulous Mr. Doughty!
Students that recently met with Mr. Hails regarding the College Bound Scholarship application, please get this form turned in as soon as possible. The deadline for this opportunity is June 30th and you will not be able to sign up for the scholarship in high school. See Mr. Hails if you need another copy or need more information…do not miss out on this opportunity!
Please take a moment to read this important information from Ellensburg School District Superintendent, Dr. Paul Farris. This is important information regarding our school calendar and the closure of our school year:
In a number of school districts in the state teachers have voted to take one-day walkouts to protest the legislature not fully funding basic education. Yesterday, Ellensburg School District teachers voted to also participate in a one-day walkout which will occur on Monday, June 1, 2015. This walkout is directed at the state legislature and not the Ellensburg School District. In order to meet the 180 day requirement for our students, the district will have a full day of instruction on Friday, June 12, 2015 and the last day for the school year will be a minimal day on Monday, June 15, 2015 in which students will be released at 10:30 am. I understand that cancelling school on Monday, June 1, 2015 will impact the families of the Ellensburg School District, and I apologize for any inconvenience. However, without the teachers in the classrooms, it would simply not be possible to have school.
